Del Oro FAQs

PRSA San Antonio holds its annual Del Oro Awards contest and ceremony to recognize the outstanding contributions of individuals in the public relations field as well as their excellent work. Del Oro (translated from Spanish) signifies "of Gold" and represents the very best and brightest in our profession for the Individual categories. The San Antonio contest is modeled after the national PRSA Silver and Bronze Anvil Awards. For more information, see our Del Oro FAQs

individual awards

The Del Oro Individual Awards recognizes those who have made outstanding contributions to the PR Profession. Submissions are judged by a panel of qualified peers from this PRSA chapter, and winners are announced prior to the awards banquet. There are six categories of individual awards:
•       Tex Taylor Lifetime Achievement Award
•       Public Relations Professional of the Year
•       Public Relations Champion
•       Community Service Award
•       Horizon Award
•       Social Responsibility Champion Award

Nominations process

You do not have to be a member of PRSA to nominate a worthy individual or organization. Candidates must be nominated by someone in the community who has knowledge of and involvement with the extraordinary individual’s accomplishment or contribution. Self nominations are welcome.

There is no fee to nominate someone for an Individual Del Oro Award. Nominations for these awards are to be kept in the strictest confidence between the submitters and the Del Oro Judging Committee Chair. Only winners will be made public.

Tactics & Campaigns Entries

La Plata (Silver) Campaign Awards: La Plata Awards recognize achievements in public relations campaigns. These awards recognize complete programs that incorporate sound research, planning, implementation and evaluation. Winning campaigns must display strategic public relations and meet the highest standards of performance in the profession.

El Bronce (Bronze) Tactics Awards: El Bronce Awards recognize outstanding public relations tactics – whether a media kit, annual report, newsletter, video program, public service announcement (PSA), speech, blog, smartphone application, website or use of social media – that are the hardworking parts of any public relations program. El Bronce awards celebrate the best of the best in tactics through categories reflecting their growing scope, creativity and the importance of strategic public relations.
