How long have you been in your current position?
Working in public relations and content management, I’ve managed a variety of clients over the years, but formalized the agency in 2016.
How long have you been a member of PRSA?
20 years
Held any offices or won any awards in PRSA/Chapter? (name if so)
I’ve been an active volunteer in Austin, Dallas, Detroit and San Antonio and am excited to serve as the Individual Awards Chair for the 2021 Del Oro Awards. I was recognized by PRSA San Antonio as “2020 Professional of the Year”
What does PRSA mean to you?
PRSA is how I’ve stayed current and on top of our ever-changing profession. It’s networking and education rolled into one, but it really is what you make of it. Early in my career, with my master’s already in hand, I remember making the case to my boss that joining PRSA would continue to strengthen my skills. Not long after, I went for my APR. PRSA, and my APR, have truly helped shape my career.
Hobbies or something unique that you do that you might would share:
It’s so easy to get caught in our day-to-day/stay in our own part of town, but there’s so much to our city/region that we take for granted. We live in one of the top tourist destinations in Texas, but so few residents truly explore San Antonio. Especially since COVID, we’ve found ourselves exploring trails, parks and areas we’ve never seen, looking for new adventures and finding more to love about our adopted hometown.
What is something that you would share to someone new going into PR?
No matter how much experience you have, there’s always more to learn. Never get comfortable or stop asking questions. We work in a profession that changes constantly. If you don’t keep learning, you’ll be left behind.
