Destin Singleton, APR, senior manager of external communications at Tesoro, has recently become an accredited member of the public relations profession by successfully completing a comprehensive examination governed by the Universal Accreditation Board.

The Examination for Accreditation in Public Relations measures a candidate’s knowledge, skills and abilities in the practice of public relations, including communication theory, management science, and ethics.

Accreditation is a formal credentialing process for the public relations professional, and Singleton now joins an elite group of more than 4,300 active Accreditation practitioners in the United States and abroad.

“The accreditation process is designed to provide a standard of knowledge and an ideal model for achieving optimum success in our profession,” said Michelle Baker, APR, Accreditation Chair for the San Antonio Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). “Singleton’s achievement is an affirmation of her skills and knowledge in the industry.”

Singleton is an experienced oil and gas public relations specialist, focused on external communications, media relations and corporate social responsibility. Singleton joined Tesoro Corporation in 2014 as manager of External Communications. Prior to Tesoro, Singleton worked in various capacities at Royal Dutch Shell for more than nine years. She is also a mother of two small girls and wife to a very happy and enthusiastic dad.
