APR: Celebrating Success

Doreen Harrell, APR, senior public relations associate with Kailo Communications Studio, LLC in Corpus Christi, has recently become an Accredited member of the public relations profession by successfully completing a comprehensive examination governed by the Universal Accreditation Board. 

The Examination for Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) measures a candidate’s knowledge, skills and abilities in the practice of public relations, including communication, theory, management science, and ethics.

Accreditation is a formal credentialing process for the public relations professional, and Harrell now joins an elite group of more than 4,300 active Accreditation practitioners in the United States and abroad.

“The accreditation process is designed to provide a standard of knowledge and an ideal model for achieving optimum success in our profession,” says Monica Faulkenbery, APR, PRSA/SA Accreditation chairperson. “Harrell’s achievement is an affirmation of her skills and knowledge in the industry.”

Harrell received her bachelor’s degree in Communications/Public Relations from Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi in 2003. She served as community relations manager for Grande Communications from 2003-2007. Since joining the Kailo Communications Studio in 2007, she has become an integral part of the Kailo team as a senior public relations associate assisting numerous clients in public relations campaigns, project planning and implementation, media communications, public outreach, social media integration, design coordination, digital marketing, research, and branding.
