Each year, the Public Relations Society of America - San Antonio (PRSA-SA) chapter offers enhanced public relations training to local small businesses or nonprofit organizations through the annual Gift of Guidance program. The Gift of Guidance program allows public relations professionals to give back to the community by sharing a special gift that only they can give – their expertise.
Why the Gift of Guidance?
Many nonprofits do not have the staff or resources to develop strong communications programs that focus their messaging, leverage social media, raise their public profile, and strengthen relationships with volunteers and other stakeholders. Because communication with many audiences is vital to achieving goals, PRSA San Antonio wants to help by providing counseling and training.
How it works
501(c)3 organizations based in the San Antonio area can register to be part of Gift of Guidance and receive a half-day public relations training session.
PRSA members and public relations professionals will offer guidance on developing a basic public relations plan, implementing some tactics, and fine-tuning media messages.
Eligibility
To take part in the Gift of Guidance program, an organization must meet the following criteria:
- Be an organization that:
- does not have a public relations professional on staff;
- does not have access to support from public relations contractors; or
- does have a public relations employee on staff but needs additional assistance
