Ever since COVID-19 arrived, chapter members pursuing their APR have been a bit stymied.  The pandemic has cut into one-on-one visits with mentors, prevented group study, stopped panel presentations and closed down proctored testing sites locally and nationally.

Until now. Now, we have several online options that will allow you to continue making progress toward your APR without further delay.

  1. Study online – Follow the APR Study Guide available at PRSA.org. It is a very good preparation for delivering your Readiness Review panel presentation and for eventually taking the online APR exam.

  2. Consult with your mentor -- via text, email, phone or Zoom. They can answer all your questions about preparing for the APR exam process and help fill in gaps in your experience or knowledge.

  3. Schedule and give your Readiness Review panel presentation – Whenever you think you are ready to give your panel presentation, contact me by phone or email ([email protected], 210-241-5139) and I will set up a Zoom session for you. By now, we’re all getting pretty good at Zoom meetings, so this should be pretty straightforward.

  4. Take your online APR test at home or in your office – Prior to COVID-19, APR candidates had to go to an official testing site to take the supervised online APR exam. Now, it’s possible to take the exam from your own home or office. The exam is still supervised, but now it’s done through Prometric’s (the testing organization) ProProctor app.  For a remotely proctored exam, you must have a computer equipped with a camera, microphone and an internet connection, and also be able to install a lightweight app prior to the test event. We’ve already had one chapter member use this testing option and it worked very well. ProProctor gives you 24/7 access, allowing you to test wherever and whenever is most convenient.

So, now there’s no reason that the pandemic should stand in the way of your progress toward your APR.  Contact me if you have any questions or when you want to set up your virtual Readiness Review panel presentation.
